Uri Gellar had one skeptic named James Randi that proved to everyone that whatever Uri Gellar is doing can be replicated by mere stage tricks. This is just one blow to his credibility because Uri Gellar also agreed to test his psychic ability by the Stanford Research Institute. Unfortunately for Uri Gellar, the results had proven nothing of his psychic ability. The results were published by SRI in a science journal called “Nature” in 1974. But these are nothing compared to the book named “The Truth About Uri Gellar”. This book which was printed in 1982 aimed to show the world that Uri Gellar is nothing but a fraud. It provided scientific explanation on how Uri Gellar can possibly bend spoons. Uri Gellar became known for bending spoons and because this one particular trick lost its credibility, so is Uri Gellar.
Uri Gellar tried to revive his dead career by changing tactic. In 2007, Uri Gellar released a statement saying that he will no longer claim that he has supernatural power. He said that all he wants now is to put up a good show. He will be no longer called a psychic but rather an entertainer or a mystifier. All this said, Uri Gellar still never admitted that he lied to anyone regarding his psychic power. For skeptics, this is nothing but diversion to reclaim the lost glory. They think that Uri Gellar wants his career back without admitting that his previous shows were based on lies. Uri Gellar’s true thoughts regarding his psychic ability was not known because he always stayed in neutral grounds regarding it.
Uri Gellar’s ability may have not been proven true but his appearance and popularity really sparked the imagination and curiosity of many on this intricate art of psychic and telekinesis. Uri Gellar may have not been the man for the job but faceless psychics are making their own name in their own world of special ability. Believing such powers and supernatural ability always go back to the audience. There is nothing wrong to be at awe or to believe the ability shown as long as the audience stays vigilant and not be drawn into doing something for the psychic. Psychic ability is an ability that many other than Uri Gellar have developed.
